Dog-Friendly Attractions & Things to Do on Norderney

The island's 54-metre red-and-white lighthouse, standing on a dune in the green interior and reached on foot or by bike through the dunes. Dogs cannot climb the tower to the viewing platform, but the walk or ride out to it is a classic island outing, and the surrounding dunes are lovely on the lead.

Norderney's oldest landmark, a tall white daymark on the western dunes that once guided ships and now marks a fine viewpoint over the beach and the North Sea. It is a natural goal for a leashed dune walk, with big views and sea air, and completely free to visit.

Guided walks set out at low tide across the UNESCO-listed Wadden Sea, one of the great natural experiences of the German coast. Some guided mudflat walks welcome a calm, leashed dog, though not all do and the bird zones are strictly protected, so book with a guide and confirm that dogs are allowed on your walk.
