Dog Walks & Green Spaces in Mojácar

Mojácar Playa's long, level seafront promenade runs for several kilometres past the beaches and chiringuitos, and it is the easiest dog walk in town because it is completely flat. Dogs must stay leashed, and during the bathing season they should keep to the promenade rather than the sand of the swimming beaches.

The whitewashed hilltop pueblo is a maze of steep, narrow lanes leading up to the Plaza Nueva and Castle viewpoints, with sweeping views over the valley of the Río Aguas to the sea. Leashed dogs can explore the village streets and viewpoints freely, and the higher altitude and shade between the buildings make it cooler than the open beach.

South of the resort, the natural Macenas coast and the lower paths of the Sierra de Cabrera-Bédar protected area offer wilder, quieter walking past the historic watchtower and the new dog beach. Dogs should stay leashed to protect the Natura 2000 habitat, and these exposed trails need an early start and plenty of water in summer.
