Dog-Friendly Waterfronts & Day Trips from Luxembourg

A 380-hectare reservoir lake in the wooded Ardennes plateau north-west of Luxembourg City, the country's largest body of water and the only place in Luxembourg where dogs can swim freely off-leash. The forested southern shore at Lultzhausen and the eastern shore at Insenborn are both dog-tolerant; bus 535 from the central station takes 1h15.

A 30-hectare leisure lake at Echternach, Luxembourg's oldest town, on the German border. The lake has a 4 km circular path that is fully leash-friendly and an open meadow at the western end where dogs are tolerated off-leash. The adjacent Müllerthal forest (Little Switzerland of Luxembourg) adds a regional walking network. Bus 110 from the central station takes 50 minutes.

A continuous riverside path that runs from the Pétrusse Valley through the Grund and Clausen quarters along the Alzette River, beneath the UNESCO fortifications. Leashed dogs are welcome the entire length, with two municipal dog enclosures along the way. The path is paved, lit at night, and connects directly to the city's flagship sights.
