Limassol

The long palm-lined seafront promenade, extended by an open-air sculpture park. Leashed dogs are welcome, best in the cool of the morning and evening.

The medieval castle where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria in 1191, now home to the Cyprus Medieval Museum. Dogs cannot enter the museum; the cobbled old-town lanes all around are walkable on the leash.

The great Greco-Roman archaeological site west of the city, crowned by an amphitheatre facing the sea. Leashed dogs are tolerated on the outdoor paths; keep them away from the mosaics and protected areas.

The salt lake south of the city, where thousands of flamingos winter from November to March. Leashed walking trails; keep your distance from the birds so as not to disturb them.

The wine villages perched on the Troodos foothills north of Limassol, homeland of Commandaria. Vineyard roads and trails perfect for long leashed walks in the cooler upland air.
