Dog-Friendly Waterfronts & Day Trips from Lille

A 5 km sandy beach at the Belgian border, the closest dog-friendly North Sea beach to Lille. The eastern half toward De Panne (Belgium) is fully off-leash year-round; the central section restricts dogs from 15 June to 15 September during the day. Behind the beach, the dunes are part of the Dunes Flamandes nature reserve, where leashed dogs are welcome on the marked trails.

A leafy canal-side towpath running from Quai du Wault past the Citadelle and out to the Bois de Boulogne. Leashed dogs are welcome the full length, and the path connects to the wider Pas-de-Calais canal towpath network — over 100 km of continuous dog-friendly walking. The canal water is industrial-grade and not safe for swimming.

A 5 km sandy seafront at Dunkerque's Malo-les-Bains district, with the Belle Époque promenade above and dog-friendly sections at both the eastern (Leffrinckoucke direction) and western (Fort-Mardyck) ends. Off-leash year-round on the marked sections; the central concession area restricts dogs in summer. SNCF train from Lille Flandres takes 60 minutes.
