Pet-Friendly Attractions in Lille

Lille's UNESCO-shortlisted historic core — cobbled streets lined with 17th-century flemish-style townhouses in pink-and-yellow brick, independent boutiques, and dog-friendly cafés on every corner. The Place du Théâtre, the Vieille Bourse (the old stock exchange), and the rue de la Monnaie are all leash-friendly and free. The Notre-Dame de la Treille cathedral interior admits only assistance dogs.

Lille's civic heart, a wide stone-paved square dominated by the Vieille Bourse (the 17th-century old stock exchange) and the Goddess Column. Dogs on leash are welcome across the square, and the second-hand-book market in the Vieille Bourse arcade tolerates dogs in summer. Christmas market in December is dog-friendly on its outdoor section.

Vauban's 17th-century star-shaped citadelle — a UNESCO-shortlisted military fortification still in use by the French Army, with its 5-pointed earthwork ramparts at the heart of the 110-hectare Bois de Boulogne. The interior is closed to the public (active base), but the surrounding moats, glacis, and outer ramparts form a 5 km loop that's leash-friendly and one of the city's most atmospheric dog walks.
