Getting Around Klaipeda with a Pet

The state ferry operator Smiltynes perkela runs the only crossing between mainland Klaipeda and the Curonian Spit. The Old Castle (Senoji) terminal handles foot passengers, cyclists and pets on a 5-minute crossing; the New Ferry (Naujoji) further south handles cars and freight. Foot passengers and dogs cross free of charge on the Old Castle line.

The municipal city bus network covers all residential districts and links the centre, the bus and rail stations and the ferry. Tickets are bought online via the official ticketing portal, on the operator app, or onboard from the driver. Standard Lithuanian transport practice allows small dogs in carriers and larger leashed dogs at the driver's discretion.
