Klaipeda has a generous spread of green space for a city of 150,000 inhabitants. The city owns and maintains several fenced, free off-leash dog enclosures (sunu vedziojimo aikstele), the largest being near Trinyciai Pond and in Draugystes Park in the south. The 12-hectare Sculpture Park in the centre is leashed-only but offers a uniquely Soviet-era open-air gallery of 116 sculptures by 67 Lithuanian artists, ideal for a 45-minute walk. Lithuanian leash law requires dogs to be controlled in all public spaces outside the designated enclosures; respect it because fines apply.
