Travelling with Pets in Geneva

Geneva's integrated network covers the city, the wider canton, and parts of nearby France. Trams 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 link the centre, Carouge, the lakefront and the airport; the Mouettes are bright yellow lake shuttles crossing the Rade between Pâquis and Eaux-Vives. All accept leashed dogs at half fare, and small carriers travel free.

The national rail operator runs frequent direct services from Geneva Cornavin to Lausanne (35 min), Zurich (2h45), Bern (1h45) and Paris via TGV Lyria. Small dogs up to ~30 cm at the shoulder travel free in a closed carrier. Larger dogs need a 2nd-class half-fare ticket; a CHF 25 dog day pass covers any combination of trains, buses and most local transport across Switzerland for the day.

Switzerland's second airport sits 4 km from the city, with a direct CFF train to Cornavin in 7 minutes (free for hotel guests via the Geneva Transport Card). EU pets enter Switzerland on a standard EU pet passport with valid rabies vaccination; non-EU travellers need a Swiss-recognised health certificate. There is no quarantine for pets coming from EU/EEA countries.
