The Chamonix valley floor is laced with riverside paths, forest trails and balcony walks where leashed dogs are welcome, and the tourist office even publishes an official list of dog-friendly hikes. The one hard rule: the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve, including the famous Lac Blanc, is strictly off-limits to dogs even on a leash.
