This is the most important rule to know before you travel: Carnac bans dogs from its own beaches all year round, including the Grande Plage, the Plage de Saint-Colomban, the Plage de Légenèse, Goviro and Porigo, with no seasonal exception except registered guide and assistance dogs. To let your dog on the sand you must drive a short distance to the Quiberon peninsula, where several beaches such as Lizeau, Drehen and La Jument allow dogs year-round. Off-season is still your friend for empty coastal-path walks, but the actual swimming-with-your-dog has to happen outside Carnac itself.
