Dog-Friendly Attractions in Calpe

The medieval old town of Calp climbs the hill behind the marina, a maze of narrow whitewashed streets, mural-painted facades and small squares climbing to the Plaza Mayor with the 15th-century Mudéjar Gothic Iglesia Antigua. Leashed dogs welcome on all streets and outdoor squares year-round, with frequent terrace cafés. The Forat de Calp viewpoint at the top of the old town offers a panoramic view over the bay and the Peñón de Ifach.

Roman-era fish-farming pools and a small archaeological site at the southern end of Playa Arenal-Bol, with carved rectangular pools cut directly into the limestone shelf at the sea edge. A free outdoor boardwalk runs above the pools with information panels, leashed dogs welcome year-round. The site is one of the most evocative Roman maritime archaeological remains on the Costa Blanca, with the Peñón de Ifach as the dramatic backdrop.

The active fishing harbour at the foot of the Peñón de Ifach, where the local fleet brings in the gamba blanca, pescado del Peñón and seasonal sardines every afternoon between 16:00 and 18:00. The outdoor quays and the parallel paseo above the lonja are leashed-dog accessible year-round, with a string of pet-friendly tapas terraces facing the moored fleet. Seasonal day-trip charter boats run from the marina to nearby coastline (no pet ferries to the Balearics from Calpe, those leave from Dénia 25 km north).
