Buda Castle District & Fishermen's Bastion
District I — Castle Hill · Várhegy, Budapest 1014
The Castle Hill district is one of Central Europe's great urban heritage sites: a UNESCO-listed hilltop citadel with the Royal Palace, Matthias Church, and the neo-Romanesque Fishermen's Bastion. Dogs on leash are welcome throughout the open outdoor areas. The Fishermen's Bastion terraces offer some of the best views of the Pest side across the Danube. The hill is reachable by funicular (dogs not allowed on the funicular — use the walking path from Adam Clark tér instead).
💡 Walk up via the zigzag path from Adam Clark tér (15 min) rather than the funicular — dogs allowed on foot, and the path through the castle gardens is beautiful
