Dog-Friendly Beaches Near Braga

A long sandy beach within the Litoral Norte Natural Park, 35 km west of Braga at the mouth of the Cávado river. The northern stretch beyond the lifeguarded zone is informally used by dog owners year-round. Outside bathing season (October to May), the whole beach is effectively dog-permissible. On-lead in the dune zones of the natural park.

A wider, less developed Atlantic beach 40 km west of Braga, famous for its windmills (moinhos de Apúlia). The southern end (Belinho) is the de facto dog zone in summer, where local owners gather year-round. Bag dispensers at the main car park; cold Atlantic surf is risky for swimmers but a paddle-only stretch is safe.
