Dog-Friendly Lake Day Trips from Bergamo

Lake Iseo's western shore is reachable directly from Bergamo by Trenord regional train (35 min to Sarnico) or by car. The Navigazione Lago d'Iseo passenger ferries operate year-round and accept leashed, muzzled dogs at no extra charge between Sulzano and Monte Isola (the car-free island in the middle of the lake). Dogs walk the perimeter loop of the island freely on leash, with several pebble swimming coves on the southern shore.

The Lecco branch of Lake Como is the nearest Como shore to Bergamo, reachable by Trenord regional train (40 min to Lecco) or by car (45 min). The Navigazione Laghi Lake Como ferries accept leashed and muzzled dogs at no extra charge. The lakeside promenade in Lecco runs for 3 km with continuous dog-friendly paths and several lawn areas. The eastern shore villages (Mandello del Lario, Varenna) are quieter than the western Como-Bellagio loop and easier with a dog.

The southern shore of Lake Garda has the highest density of officially designated dog beaches in northern Italy, including Lazise's Giulietta Beach (50 km from Bergamo) and several free spiagge per cani on the Sirmione peninsula. The shallow, warm southern Garda waters are particularly suited to dogs that are nervous of open water. Sirmione itself is pedestrianised inside the medieval Scaliger walls and most piazze welcome leashed dogs.
