Be honest with yourself before you come: Amalfi is not a beach destination for dogs. Its beaches are small pebble and rock coves, and under the usual Italian coastal rules dogs are kept off most public beaches from roughly June to September, with the busy private lidos on Marina Grande setting their own, usually no-dog, policies. The quieter coves at Duoglio and Santa Croce, reached by steps or boat, are a little more relaxed off-season. For a genuine swim with your dog you will need a dedicated dog beach further along the coast toward Salerno. Watch the hot rock and pebbles too, which can burn paws on a summer afternoon.
Amalfi's main pebble beach below the town, mostly divided into private beach clubs with a small free (libera) section. Dogs are generally not welcome on the lidos and are restricted through summer, so treat it as a place to pass through rather than to swim.

Two quieter pebble-and-rock coves west of Amalfi with clearer water than the town beach, reached by a long stair descent or a short water taxi from the Amalfi pier. They feel more relaxed than Marina Grande, especially off-season, but have few facilities, so bring water and always check current signs and the lido's dog policy.

For a real beach day, this is Campania's first dedicated dog beach, a fenced, equipped resort at Marina di Eboli where dogs genuinely swim and play through summer, unlike the Amalfi lidos. It has a dog beach, dog wash, shaded areas and off-leash space, open daily June to September.
