Dog-Friendly Parks and Walks in Alcúdia

Alcúdia's medieval walls are among the best-preserved on the Balearic Islands, a 14th-century stone ring around the casc antic with 26 towers and two main gates (Porta de Mallorca and Porta del Moll). The 1.5 km perimeter walk along the outer rampart base is dog-friendly end to end, a flat leashed loop with sightlines over the Albufera wetlands to the south and the bay of Pollença to the north. Free to access, open 24 hours, and the most rewarding 30-minute introduction to the town with a dog.

S'Albufera de Mallorca is the largest wetland on the Balearic Islands, a 1,700-hectare UNESCO Ramsar reserve of reedbeds, dunes, lagoons and rice paddies on the southern edge of Alcúdia, host to more than 200 bird species including ospreys, herons, flamingos, and the rare moustached warbler. Leashed dogs are welcome on the marked main sentier from the Sa Roca visitor centre and along the perimeter tracks, with strict no-entry zones in the inner nesting areas. The flat 4 km Camí de sa Roca loop is the most accessible dog walk, with several wooden bird hides along the way.

The Coll Baix trail drops from the Ermita de la Victòria car park on the Cap d'es Pinar peninsula 10 km northeast of Alcúdia, down a forested stone-paved path to a secluded pebble cove (Platja de Coll Baix) reached only on foot. The hike is around 1 hour down, 1h15 back up, through holm-oak forest with sweeping views over the bay of Pollença. Leashed dogs are welcome end to end. The cove itself is unmanaged with no facilities, and the seasonal beach ban does not enforce strictly here given its remoteness. Carry plenty of water in summer.
