All four major Loire chateaux near Tours welcome dogs in their outdoor spaces with different rules for interiors. Chambord: leashed dogs throughout the park; prohibited in castle, stables and French gardens. Chenonceau: leashed in grounds and gardens, in a bag for small dogs inside. Villandry: leashed in the famous gardens; in a bag inside. Amboise: leashed throughout the park; small dogs in arms or bag inside.

Tours experiences peak summer temperatures of 28–32 °C in July-August, with the Vieux-Tours cobblestone pavements absorbing heat from late morning to early evening. Walks are best before 10:00 or after 19:00. The Loire-side path (under plane trees) and the shaded Jardin des Prébendes d'Oé remain comfortable even in midday heat.
