Hondenparken & wandelingen in Makarska

A pine-clad peninsula on the south-western edge of Makarska, with a shaded promenade looping past lookouts, a small cave, the Church of St Peter and an 1884 lighthouse. The roughly 4 km loop stays at sea level under deep pine shade, making it one of the coolest walks in town on a hot day. Dogs are allowed but must stay on a leash throughout.

Stretching east from the port toward Tučepi, Osejava is a dense pine forest threaded with authentic stony paths that hug the shoreline below the Biokovo wall. It connects directly to the seafront promenade, so you can walk from town into deep shade within minutes, which is exactly what a dog needs in the Dalmatian heat. Dogs are welcome on the trails but must be kept on a leash.

The palm-lined Riva runs the length of the bay between the harbour and the foot of the forest parks, giving an easy, flat leashed walk with the Biokovo massif rising directly behind. It links naturally into both Sveti Petar and Osejava, so you can string together a longer loop of promenade and pine shade. Dogs must be leashed and waste picked up.
