Gothenburg's iconic urban park, 137 hectares of mixed forest, meadows, and formal gardens with free-roaming deer, moose, and flamingos. Official off-leash zones are in the northern section. The unmissable morning circuit for Gothenburg dog owners.

Gothenburg's best-preserved 19th-century wooden district, cobbled streets, colourful low wooden houses, and an unbroken line of café terraces on Haga Nygata. Dogs are omnipresent at all hours. Café Husaren's enormous cinnamon bun is unmissable.

Gothenburg's main boulevard, 700 metres of restaurant and café terraces from Kungsportsplatsen to Götaplatsen. Dogs on leads are ubiquitous here, and the adjacent Kungsparken provides a green alternative along the same axis.

The 19th-century Garden Society historic park, an exceptional Scandinavian rose garden, a Victorian palm house, and an outdoor café where dogs are welcome on the terrace. Admission charged but the atmosphere is unique.

Gothenburg's famous fish market in a neo-Gothic building resembling a church. Dogs wait outside, but the surrounding Rosenlund canal quaysides are fully accessible and make an ideal 20-minute walk.

The southern archipelago islands, Styrsö, Brännö, Vrångö, accessible by ferry from Saltholmen (tram Line 11). The islands are car-free with extensive coastal paths and rock beaches. Dogs travel free on Styrsöbolaget ferries.
