At 1,750 hectares, Phoenix Park is one of the world's largest enclosed urban parks. Dogs can run freely in most areas. The park is home to free-roaming deer, keep your dog on a lead if you approach them.

The path along the Dodder river from Rathfarnham to Ringsend harbour is one of the most beloved walks for Dubliners and their dogs. Green, varied and accessible year-round.

Sandymount Strand, 3 km from Dublin city centre, is accessible to dogs year-round (on lead during bathing season). At low tide, the vast sandy expanses are perfect for a long dog walk.

Ranelagh and Portobello are Dublin's most dog-friendly neighbourhoods. Pubs with beer gardens, trendy cafés and the Grand Canal running alongside Portobello, ideal for a late-afternoon walk.

A 40-minute drive south of Dublin, the Wicklow Mountains offer spectacular dog-friendly hiking. Glendalough (two glacial lakes) is the most popular site, dogs are allowed on the trails.
