Bergamo Pet Travel Tips
City-wide · Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy
Bergamo's tourism board recognises the city as pet-tolerant, with dogs welcome on the Mura Venete UNESCO walls, the funiculars, public buses, and most outdoor café terraces. Italian national law requires every large-dog owner in public to carry a muzzle (even if not worn) and a leash. Summer humidity in the Po Valley (28-32°C with 70% humidity) is the main hazard, walk early or late and avoid Città Alta cobblestones from 12:00-17:00.
💡 The Piazza Vecchia and Via Gombito are freely walkable with leashed dogs at any hour and offer the classic postcard photos of Città Alta, even when museums are closed.
