Summer humidity in the Po Valley (28-32°C with 70% humidity) is the main hazard, walk early or late and avoid Città Alta cobblestones from 12:00-17:00.

Bergamo's finest art museum, with masterpieces by Mantegna, Botticelli, Raphael, Bellini and Lotto, follows the standard Italian civic museum policy: small dogs in a transport carrier are admitted; larger dogs cannot enter. The second of Bergamo's two funiculars climbs from Città Alta to the panoramic hill of San Vigilio (496 m) in two minutes, dramatically expanding the off-leash walking options without a car.
