Alpine Lakes & Dog Swim Spots near Zermatt

The Leisee is the only Zermatt lake with a designated dog-friendly swimming zone — a small fenced corner of the lake near the playground, with grass apron and access ramp. Dogs are also welcome on leash around the rest of the loop. Reach it via the Sunnegga funicular and a 5-minute downhill walk. The most family- and dog-friendly mountain lake in the Matterhorn region.

The Stellisee delivers the most iconic Matterhorn reflection photograph in the Alps. Leashed dogs are welcome on the path around the lake; the eastern shore (away from the photo viewpoint) allows brief dog paddling in shallow water. Glacier-cold even in midsummer — most dogs only want to dip paws. Reached via the Blauherd cable car and a 10-minute walk.

A small dark glacial lake directly beneath the Matterhorn's east face, reached by the Furi–Schwarzsee cable car (leashed dogs accepted). The lake itself is too cold and rocky for serious dog swimming, but the surrounding alpine meadows and the trail down to Furi are spectacular leashed-dog walks. The nearby Hotel Schwarzsee restaurant terrace welcomes dogs.
