Vichy's Second Empire parks string along the Allier lakefront into a nearly continuous green ribbon, and leashed dogs are welcome on the paths of all of them. Town rule: dogs must be leashed and kept close everywhere on public land, and you must pick up after your dog throughout the commune.
Vichy's oldest park, created in 1812 and framed by the wrought-iron Art Nouveau covered galleries, is the centrepiece of the UNESCO listing. The galleries throw welcome shade on hot days, though the park is under phased renovation through 2026.

A roughly 6 km flat loop around the dammed Lac d'Allier, taking in Parc Napoleon III, the lakeside boardwalk, the pont-barrage and the left bank. Mostly shaded and level, it is the best long dog walk in Vichy, though dogs are barred from the swimming beaches along it.
