Pet-Friendly Attractions in Trogir

The whole walled island old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a maze of marble streets, Romanesque churches and Venetian palaces centred on the square of the Cathedral of St Lawrence with its famous Radovan portal. You can wander all of it with a leashed dog, though the cathedral interior and bell tower do not admit pets. It is small enough to circle in an hour, longer if you stop at the terraces.

A striking Venetian fortress built around 1420 on the western edge of the old-town island, right by the sea. The interior is largely an open shell whose ramparts you can climb for sweeping views over Trogir and Ciovo, with green open space and a small playground at its base. Confirm the dog policy at the ticket desk for climbing the walls, but the surrounding grounds are an easy leashed stroll.

The palm-lined Riva runs the length of the old-town island's south side, a wide seafront promenade of bars, restaurants and moored yachts that is the social heart of Trogir. It is the most relaxed leashed stroll in town, breezy off the water and lined with dog-friendly terraces. From here you look across to Ciovo and along to the Kamerlengo fortress.
