Pet-Friendly Sights & Walks in Tarragona

A 2nd-century AD Roman amphitheatre carved into the natural amphitheatre of the coastline, with the Mediterranean as its backdrop and capacity for 15,000 spectators in its prime. Currently in ruins but instantly readable. Leashed dogs are welcome on the surrounding park paths and the seafront viewpoint above; the fenced interior is closed to non-assistance dogs.

A 1 km shaded promenade between the inner Roman walls (3rd century BC) and the outer 18th-century fortifications, with viewpoints, lawn and ancient watchtowers. The whole route is open-air and easy on a leash, often included on free city walking tours.

The signature wrought-iron-railing balcony at the eastern end of the Rambla Nova, overlooking the Mediterranean, the Roman amphitheatre and the long curve of the Platja del Miracle. The most photographed viewpoint of the city and a daily ritual for locals walking their dogs at sunset.
