The 10th-century Moorish-built fortress that became famous in 1294 when Alonso Pรฉrez de Guzmรกn refused to surrender even as his son was killed below the walls. The outdoor ramparts and courtyards face the Strait of Gibraltar; leashed dogs are welcome in the open-air sections, though smaller interior rooms can be restricted.
