Parque da Alameda
Santiago's main public park, a Belle Époque-era promenade rising on a hill just south of the old town, with the iconic Carballeira de Santa Susana oak grove and the city's most-photographed viewpoint of the cathedral spires. The municipality has designated a dedicated off-leash dog zone in the Carballeira and dogs on lead are welcome everywhere else on the wide gravel walks beneath the eucalyptus and oak canopy.
Off-leash zone: Dedicated off-leash zone within the Carballeira de Santa Susana oak grove. Leash required on the formal promenade paths and near the bandstand.
💡 Enter from the southern Rúa da Senra side and climb to the Mirador da Ferradura for the postcard cathedral view. The Carballeira off-leash zone is busiest 18:00-20:00.
