Dog-Friendly Parks in San Sebastián

The wooded hill crowning the Old Town, topped by the Castillo de la Mota fort and a large statue of Christ. Monte Urgull's network of shaded paths offers panoramic views over La Concha bay and the Cantabrian Sea. Dogs are permitted off-leash during the designated hours — 18:00 to 12:00 in winter, 19:00 to 10:00 in summer — across the full hill, except that breeds classified as potentially dangerous (PPP) must always remain leashed and muzzled.

The wild eastern headland beyond Zurriola beach, Monte Ulía is a protected natural area with dramatic clifftop trails and Atlantic views. Its off-leash hours are consistent year-round — 18:00 to 12:00 every day — and the trails are far less crowded than Monte Urgull. The GR121 coastal path runs along the clifftops with views stretching to the open Atlantic.

San Sebastián's most elegant park — a 17-hectare woodland donated to the city in 1898 by the Duke of Mandas in memory of his wife. Shaded paths wind through exotic trees, ponds, and peacock enclosures along the river Urumea. Dogs are welcome throughout on leads, and the riverbank lawns are an ideal shaded rest stop on hot days.
