Dog-Friendly Parks & Green Spaces in Rovinj

A 300-acre seafront forest park planted from the 1890s by the Austro-Hungarian aristocrat Georg Hütterott as a private arboretum, opened to the public after WWII and now Rovinj`s great breathing space. Stone paths and gravel trails wind through cedars, holm oaks and aleppo pines along 5 km of indented coast with hidden pebble coves. Leashed dogs welcome on all marked trails; multiple pet-friendly beach sections inside the park.

The crescent of paved harbour quayside running from the Mali mol pier round to the Stari Grad peninsula, a continuous traffic-free walking line of 1.5 km with the Venetian fishing boats moored on one side and pastel facades of the Old Town on the other. The unofficial main dog promenade of Rovinj at sunrise and sunset, with stone benches and frequent water access for a quick paw rinse.

The Stari Grad sits on a former islet joined to the mainland in 1763 by filling the channel - the result is a tight peninsula you can walk around at sea level in about 25 minutes. Narrow cobbled lanes climb up to the 60 m belltower of sv. Eufemije, the Balbi Arch (1679 Venetian gate) and the Grisia artist colony lane. Entirely traffic-free, fully dog-walkable, with sea views on every side.
