Getting Around Pula with a Dog

Pula Airport (PUY) sits 7 km north-east of the Old Town, with year-round Croatia Airlines services to Zagreb and Frankfurt, and seasonal Ryanair, Wizz Air, Vueling, easyJet and Eurowings flights to the UK, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands and central Europe. EU pet rules apply (microchip + EU pet passport + rabies vaccination). The airport has an outdoor pet relief area in front of the terminal and a seasonal shuttle bus to the Pula bus station.

Pulapromet runs the city network connecting the Old Town, the Verudela peninsula, Stoja and Premantura; tickets are bought on board or at kiosks. Autotrans (Arriva) and Brioni Pula run the regional coastal lines to Rovinj (45 min), Poreč, Rijeka (2 h), Zagreb (4 h) and Trieste (2 h 30) from the Pula bus station, 600 m east of the Arena. Small dogs in a carrier ride free on both networks; larger dogs are admitted muzzled on a leash, free or with a €5-10 surcharge at the driver`s discretion.

The HŽ regional railway runs Pula to Buzet and onwards to Divača in Slovenia (where the line connects to Ljubljana and the European network), 4 h end-to-end on a slow but scenic Istrian interior route. Small dogs in a carrier ride free; larger dogs are admitted with a muzzle and short lead for €5-10. The Pula station sits on the harbour edge, 1 km north-west of the Arena, walkable from most of the Old Town.
