Pet-Friendly Attractions in Poznan

One of the largest medieval market squares in Europe, laid out in 1253 and ringed by colourful Renaissance, Baroque, and reconstructed townhouses. The Renaissance Town Hall in the centre houses the famous mechanical goats that butt heads every day at noon. Leashed dogs are welcome on the cobbles, on most cafe terraces, and along the surrounding lanes. The Town Hall museum and the Royal Castle are off-limits to dogs (except assistance), but the entire outdoor experience is dog-friendly.

The cradle of the Polish state, where the first Christian baptism of the Polish king Mieszko I took place in 966. The island holds the Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the small bishops' palace, and a network of cobbled lanes that are wonderfully calm at any time of day. Dogs on leash are welcome everywhere outdoors, including the cathedral square. The cathedral interior admits assistance dogs only. A short walk over the Bishop Jordan Bridge connects the island to the Old Town.

Beyond its role as Poznan's biggest park, the Citadel is an open-air history museum: the 1945 Soviet war cemetery, the Magdalena Abakanowicz Unrecognized sculpture installation of 112 cast-iron figures, and the panoramic terrace overlooking the Old Town. All of it is outdoor and dog-friendly on leash, year-round. The two indoor military museums (Army and Armaments) are off-limits to dogs, but the outdoor walk is the actual highlight.
