Parks & Walks in Portofino

The regional park covering the whole Portofino promontory, with around 80 km of mule tracks and coastal trails through Mediterranean woodland. Leashed dogs are welcome, with a maximum of three dogs per person, making it the main place near the village to give a dog a real walk.

The classic park hike from Portofino over the headland to the tucked-away bay and abbey of San Fruttuoso, reachable only on foot or by boat. Leashed dogs manage it well if fit, and you can walk one way and take the ferry back, which requires a muzzle to be carried.

The gentle coastal route linking Portofino to Santa Margherita Ligure via the cove of Paraggi, following the panoramic road and shoreline path. It is an easier, lower outing than the park summits and a good leashed-dog stroll between the two towns when the bus is packed.
