Parks and Off-Leash Areas for Dogs in Perth

Off-leash zone: Dogs are welcome on a lead of two metres or less and must stay on lead at all times. They are not allowed on the raised boardwalk section of the Lotterywest Federation Walkway, inside Rio Tinto Naturescape, in children's playgrounds or in the cafes, and they are excluded during events and on major public occasions. Bring your own waste bags, as the park does not supply them.

💡 Park at the Fraser Avenue end early, walk the Law Walk along the escarpment for the river views, and turn back before eleven in summer: the exposed limestone paths hold heat and there is little shade on the lookout side.

Off-leash zone: The agility park itself is fully fenced and off leash. It has benches, a water fountain and a bin with a waste bag dispenser. Dogs must be on a lead getting to and from the enclosure, as everywhere else in Western Australia.

💡 Combine it with the East Perth riverside loop: walk in along the foreshore from Claisebrook Cove, let the dog off inside the fence, then continue on lead towards Point Fraser and Elizabeth Quay.

Off-leash zone: Dogs may be walked on a lead throughout the park. They are not permitted during the Hyde Park Fair or the City of Vincent Summer Concert Series, and City of Vincent rules bar dogs from any reserve while a booked sporting activity is under way.

💡 The lakes attract long necked turtles and a lot of waterbirds, so keep the lead short at the water's edge: it is the fastest way to turn a quiet walk into an incident with a nesting swan.
