Getting Around Perpignan with a Dog

Perpignan's local bus network. Dogs and cats are carried free of charge if held on the lap in a basket; dogs not in a closed carrier are admitted on a full-fare ticket, kept on a leash and muzzled. Guide dogs travel on a leash. A practical way to reach the outer districts and connecting routes.

Perpignan's station is on the Occitanie regional network with frequent services along the coast and to Montpellier, Narbonne and the Spanish border. Buy your pet's ticket at the station: dogs under 6 kg travel in a bag (max 45x30x25 cm), larger dogs muzzled and on a leash, up to two per passenger. Guide dogs travel free.

The flat, compact centre is easily walked with a dog, and the canal and Têt riverbanks add traffic-free routes. For a beach day, the dog-friendly stretches at Canet-en-Roussillon, Sainte-Marie and Torreilles are a short bus or car ride east. Note the seasonal beach bans run roughly 15 June to 15 September on most stretches.
