The iconic red-brick gateway tower of Perpignan, the only surviving fragment of the medieval city walls, begun in 1368 and crowned with a domed turret. Today it houses the Casa Pairal museum of local history. The exterior and the surrounding Place de Verdun make a fine leashed-dog stroll.
