Pet-Friendly Transport in Nîmes

Nîmes station sits at the southern edge of the historic Écusson, 8 minutes' walk from the Arènes. TGV services to Paris Gare de Lyon in 2h50 and regular TER lines to Avignon (30 min), Arles (30 min), Montpellier (30 min) and Marseille (1h00). SNCF national pet rules apply: dogs under 6 kg in a carrier travel on a 0 EUR animal ticket, larger dogs on lead and muzzled pay 50 percent of the adult fare capped at 7 EUR. Guide and assistance dogs travel free.

Tango is the urban bus network of Nîmes Métropole, covering the city centre and 39 surrounding communes. Like most French municipal bus networks, only small pets carried in a closed basket and guide or assistance dogs are admitted; medium and large dogs on lead are not accepted on board. For the Pont du Gard, take the seasonal Edgard regional bus B21 from the Nîmes coach station, which has the same small-pet-only rule.

A small seasonal airport 15 minutes south of Nîmes, with Ryanair and Volotea routes to London Luton, Brussels Charleroi and a few summer destinations. Standard airline pet rules apply: most carriers admit pets up to 8 kg including carrier in cabin and require advance booking. For year-round flexibility, Marseille Provence (MRS, 1h15 by road) or Montpellier (MPL, 50 min) carry far more pet-friendly route options.
