Dog-Friendly Attractions in Nîmes

The best-preserved Roman amphitheatre in the world, built around AD 70 and still hosting the Féria bullfights, opera and concerts. The site holds the Qualidog label and explicitly admits leashed dogs of all sizes, including categorised dogs, free of charge during normal visiting hours. Bring your own waste bags. The amphitheatre is closed to visitors during ferias and concerts; check the calendar before you arrive.

The three-tier Roman aqueduct bridge built in the 1st century to carry water from Uzès to Nîmes, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most-visited monument in the Gard. The official site regulations admit dogs on lead across the bridge, the riverbanks, the path along the Roman canalisation outside and the marked trails. The interior of the Roman canalisation, the Musée du Pont du Gard, the Ciné and the Ludo bans dogs except guide and assistance dogs.

The Roman temple built around 4–7 AD and dedicated to the grandsons of Augustus, the most complete Roman temple anywhere and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2023. Dogs are not admitted to the interior 3D cinema and exhibition (guide and assistance dogs only). The full pedestrian square around the temple, however, is open access, and the steps of the temple are a free public viewpoint for an evening visit.
