Newquay has more beaches than almost anywhere in Britain, and the good news for dog owners is that most of them allow dogs all year round. Fistral, Towan, Great Western, Newquay Harbour, Crantock, Watergate Bay, Lusty Glaze and Whipsiderry are all dog-friendly year-round. The main exception is Porth Beach, where dogs are banned from 1 July to 31 August between 10am and 6pm under Cornwall Council's Public Spaces Protection Order, and Tolcarne, where in the May to September season dogs must be kept on a lead. Cornwall Council can issue fines of up to 100 pounds for breaches. Cornwall's beach PSPO is under review, with any changes due by 1 May 2026, so always check the current signs on arrival.
