Río Chíllar (river walk)
Nerja's signature warm-weather walk follows the bed of the Río Chíllar through a cool gorge, with ankle-to-knee-deep water and shade for much of the route. Dogs love it because there is water and shade the whole way, making it the rare summer hike that stays comfortable in the Andalusian heat.
Off-leash zone: Keep dogs under control; on-leash in busier stretches near the entrance
💡 Wear old trainers or water shoes, not sandals. Watch for pine processionary caterpillars in the pines from late winter to early summer, as they are toxic to dogs
