This is the honest part of a Maspalomas trip with a dog. The famous sands, Playa de Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, together with the protected Maspalomas Dunes Special Nature Reserve, ban dogs all year. The ban is enforced and fines can reach 1,500 euros; some owners walk dogs on the empty sand after dark, but that is tolerated at best, never permitted. The nearest official dog beaches (playas caninas) are a short drive away in the neighbouring Mogán municipality, which opened five of them in February 2026, and on the southeast coast around Agüimes.

Rules: Dogs are allowed only during the reserved windows, roughly 07:00 to 10:00 and 18:00 to 21:00, and must stay inside the marked zone. Waste pickup is mandatory, and potentially dangerous breeds must be leashed and muzzled under Spanish law.
