Dog-Friendly Lake Lugano Beaches

The municipal Lido di Caslano hosts the only officially designated dog swimming beach (Spiaggia per cani) on the Swiss side of Lake Lugano — a small dedicated gravel cove with shallow shoreline, separate from the main human bathing area. Open year-round, free entry. The Lido itself charges entry to the main lawn area; the dog beach is accessed via a separate path.

A wooded hillside park above Castagnola with a rocky lakeshore at its base, popular with local dog walkers. The shoreline is unofficial and unfenced — leashed dogs can paddle or swim freely off the rocks. Mature plane trees and granite benches make the upper path comfortable in summer heat. The Sentiero dell'Olivo to Gandria starts from the park's lakeside path.

Morcote, often called the most beautiful village in Switzerland, has a stretch of unofficial lakeshore north of the village centre where leashed dogs can dip paws or swim in calm shallow water with the iconic terracotta-roofed village reflected on the lake. Best reached by the Lugano lake boat (25 min, dogs free); the village itself is pedestrianised and dog-friendly throughout.
