Dog-Friendly Attractions in Lugano

The Monte Brè funicular climbs from Cassarate to the 925 m summit in 12 minutes, with leashed dogs accepted on board (CHF 5 dog return). The summit terrace offers a 360° panorama from Mount Rosa to the Bernese Alps and across to Italy. Dogs welcome at the summit restaurant terrace; several leashed-dog hiking trails radiate from the upper station, including the descent path to the artist village of Brè.

The Monte San Salvatore funicular climbs from Paradiso to the 912 m summit, the city's most iconic viewpoint. Dogs accepted on the funicular IN A CARRIER ONLY (this is the one Lugano funicular with a carrier restriction — confirmed on the official site). At the top, a small chapel and a wraparound terrace deliver the city's best Matterhorn-and-Monte-Rosa panorama. Several leashed-dog trails descend back down through chestnut forest.

A perfectly preserved Ticinese fishing village clinging to the cliff above Lake Lugano, 4 km east of the city. Car-free, with stepped lanes between pastel houses and lakeside terraces serving Italian-Ticinese cuisine. Reached by lakeside Sentiero dell'Olivo (1.5 h walk, leashed dogs welcome) or by the lake boat (25 min, dog free). All village streets, terraces and the lakeshore are leashed-dog friendly.
