Lucca is 25 km inland from the Versilia coast, which hosts the largest concentration of Bau-Beach (dog beach) zones in Tuscany. Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Camaiore and Viareggio each have signed sections. The Serchio river also has a dog-bathing zone.

Parco Fluviale del Serchio, 55100 Lucca
Small signposted dog-swimming zone on the Serchio river, 1 km north of the walls. Gravel beach, shallow water, summer only (June–September). The closest dog swim from the walls.
