Merseyrail runs the Wirral and Northern lines linking the city centre to Southport, West Kirby, Chester, and the Wirral peninsula. Up to two dogs per passenger travel free at the conductor's discretion, leashed and well-behaved. The new Class 777 trains have wide vestibules that suit larger dogs.

💡 The Wirral Line runs through the under-river tunnel — well-behaved dogs cope fine, but anxious dogs may struggle. Try the slower Northern Line first.
