Kazbegi ยท Stepantsminda village, Kazbegi National Park
The most iconic hike in Georgia: a 2.5 km trail climbing 600m from the village to the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church (2,170m altitude) perched on a cliff with Mount Kazbek directly above. Dogs hike off-leash throughout on the well-worn path. The views from the church over the Dariali gorge and Kazbek glacier are among the most spectacular in the Caucasus.
๐ก Start before 07:00 for the best photography light and to have the mountain largely to yourself with your dog; by 10:00 the trail fills with day-trip jeep tourists. The trail is icy in November-March and should only be attempted with crampons
