Getting Around Inverness with Your Pet

Inverness is compact enough that most visitors with a dog simply walk; the centre, the river, the Ness Islands, and the canal are all within twenty minutes on foot of each other. For longer trips, ScotRail trains run the scenic Highland Main Line from the south and connect on to the far north and west, and up to two dogs travel free per passenger on a lead. Stagecoach Highland buses serve the wider area and accept dogs at the driver's discretion. Inverness Airport (INV) at Dalcross is the Highlands' main airport, about 30 minutes from the centre.
