Marché de La Flotte
La Flotte · Cours Félix Faure, 17630 La Flotte
The medieval covered market of La Flotte is one of the loveliest in France and the heart of village life. Under its timber roof and around the surrounding stalls you find oysters straight from the island flats, fleur de sel, AOP de Ré potatoes, charcuterie, and cheese, with dogs wandering between the stalls beside their owners as a matter of course. Most stallholders keep a water bowl out, and the open square around the market has café terraces where you can sit with a coffee or a dozen oysters while your dog rests in the shade. Go in the morning when the market is full and buy a picnic to take to the harbour or the cycling paths.
💡 Buy oysters and a baguette at the market and walk five minutes to the harbour wall to eat them with your dog at your feet
