Dog-Friendly Beaches in Hvar

A pebble bathing cove 1.5 km east of Hvar Town, reached by the pine-shaded coastal path that starts from the Amfora hotel quay, with a small flat-rock platform and a tiny islet (Pokonji Dol) just offshore that the cove takes its name from. Off-season (15 Sep-15 May) the entire cove is open to leashed dogs; in summer a small designated dog-friendly section is signposted at the east end past the main sunbed concession.

The Pakleni Islands archipelago strung off the western tip of Hvar Town - Sveti Klement, Marinkovac, Jerolim - has been the day-trip backbone of Hvar tourism since the 19th century, with pebble bays, pine cover and crystal water. Dogs are routinely welcome on most water-taxis from Hvar Town quay and on the bays of Palmižana and Mlini outside the central concession; the Mlini end is the calmer and more dog-friendly choice. Off-season the whole archipelago is effectively open.

A horseshoe pebble bay 8 km east of Hvar Town off the south coast road, with a single stone bay-house, a small konoba and one of the most photographed coves on the island - turquoise water, pine cover and almost no built structure. Off-season the entire bay is open to leashed dogs; in summer the dog-friendly section is the rocky east flank past the konoba, away from the central beach concession. Reach it from the road by a 10-min stepped path down to the cove.
