Granada is one of the hottest cities in Spain in summer. Pavements can reach 60°C in direct afternoon sun — fatal to dog paws within minutes. Walk only in early morning (before 09:00) or after 20:00. Carry water and offer it every 20 minutes. Choose shaded routes through the Albaicín lanes rather than open plazas. In a heatwave, skip outdoor activity entirely during the day.
💡 Test the pavement with your bare hand: if you cannot hold it there for 5 seconds, it is too hot for your dog to walk on
